eDreams ODIGEO brings MCP booking to Alexa+: what OTA builders should take from it

By Loris Mazloum

On October 7, 2026, eDreams ODIGEO announced a collaboration with Amazon’s Alexa+. Alexa+ users can ask, in their own words, to find and book flights, hotels, and car rentals. Under the hood, Alexa+ calls eDreams ODIGEO’s proprietary Model Context Protocol (MCP) network to search and present options inside the conversation.

What was announced

According to the press release and Travel Weekly’s coverage:

The company frames it as “agentic distribution”: the assistant is the shop window, and the OTA is the operational engine underneath.

Why it matters for builders

Two things stand out.

MCP is becoming the OTA’s distribution interface. A week ago the headline was an airline plugin in ChatGPT that stops at shopping. Here an OTA exposes booking itself to a third-party assistant over MCP. If you build an agent or a travel platform, an MCP surface is turning into a standard way to get your inventory into hosts you don’t control.

Voice raises the bar on confirmation. On a speaker there is no checkout page to review. Every paid step needs a clear spoken quote and an explicit yes before anything is bought, and retries must not double-book. Those are the same rules we use for extras in Build an AI travel agent that fulfills ancillaries: quote before commit, buy only on an explicit yes, idempotent paid calls.

What is still outside the conversation

The announced scope is flights, hotels, and cars. Travel insurance, eSIM data, lounge access, and security fast track are not mentioned. For an OTA or agent that already holds the itinerary, those are the next questions a traveller asks, and each one is a separate supplier map.

On Ancilair those extras are MCP tools beside your ticket source: insurance quoted against the actual trip, eSIM for the destination, anc.lounge.search then anc.lounge.book on a layover, plus fast track, transfers, and visa checks. Each call is priced at the supplier’s rate with 0% markup. See the travel MCP server guide or the Beside the ticket workflow.

Also this week: RouteStack widens its MCP endpoint

On the same day, RouteStack.ai by Custom Travel Solutions said it is adding activities and vacation rentals to its flights, hotels, and cars inventory, all behind a single MCP endpoint, with availability to all users in early Q4 2026 and sandbox testing open now. The direction is the same: more of the trip reachable from one agent session.
