PROS Kairos and Travefy's insurance hookup: travel extras are moving into the workflow

By Loris Mazloum

Two announcements on Oct. 12, 2026 point the same way from opposite ends of the trip. On the airline side, PROS launched PROS Kairos, an agentic airline retailing platform whose first new modules manage what an airline sells and how it controls stock. On the agency side, Travefy said it will plug Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection straight into the advisor’s booking workflow. In both cases, extras stop being a separate process and become something the system quotes in context.

What PROS launched

Per PROS and PhocusWire:

The launch follows PROS’ decision earlier in 2026 to focus only on travel retailing, after its acquisition by Thoma Bravo in December 2025.

What Travefy announced

Per TravelPulse:

Why it matters for AI travel agent builders

Catalog plus stock is the shape an agent needs. A product catalog with stock control is what lets an offer include an extra only when it can actually be delivered. That matches what we saw in IATA’s modularity tests, where lounge access and an eSIM sat in the same order as the seat and bag. For an agent, the equivalent is a search that returns real availability and a price, not a promise.

Quoting from the trip record is the whole trick. Travefy’s pitch is that the advisor never retypes the traveller’s dates and destination. An AI agent already holds that context in the session. If the insurance, eSIM, or lounge call can take the itinerary as input, the extra is one tool call away instead of a hand-off to another site.

Agents on the airline side will not sell your third-party shelf. Kairos is built for airline commercial teams. Its catalog serves the airline’s own offer. OTAs and agent builders still need their own route to cover, connectivity, lounges, fast track, and transfers once the ticket exists.

Where Ancilair fits

Ancilair exposes those non-ticket extras as tools an agent can call over MCP, REST, or CLI with one token: insurance quoted against the itinerary, eSIM plans for the destination, lounge search then book, fast track, transfers, and visa checks. Each price is quoted on the call at the supplier’s rate with 0% markup, and paid steps run only after an explicit yes with an idempotency key. Questions

What is PROS Kairos?
PROS Kairos is an airline retailing platform PROS launched on Oct. 12, 2026. It brings PROS pricing science, airline data, and AI into one workspace with role-based views and a natural-language assistant. PROS says agentic AI is a foundational capability and plans agents for revenue management, dynamic pricing, shopping, group sales optimization, and offer marketing.
What are Product Catalog and Stock Keeper?
They are the first two new Kairos capabilities. Per PhocusWire, they help airlines manage the products they sell and how they manage stock. PROS says both require new commercial agreements, while existing PROS products move onto the platform progressively.
What did Travefy announce with Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection?
Travefy, an agency and advisor platform, announced a direct integration of Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP) slated for release in late 2026. Advisors will be able to request a travel insurance quote inside Travefy without re-entering trip data, with a quoting and purchase flow in the same workflow.
Does either announcement give AI agents a public API?
Neither announcement describes a public developer API or MCP server. Kairos is a platform for airline commercial teams, and the Travefy integration is built for advisors using Travefy.
Is this insurance advice?
No. This is industry news for builders. Coverage, eligibility, and claims are set by each insurer's policy terms.
